KAPOLEI, HAWAII—DREAMHOUSE, INC. (“DreamHouse”) and Avalon Development Company LLC (“Avalon”) today announced the development of a three-story mix-use commercial building to be anchored by DreamHouse charter school. The project named the DreamHouse Center is located on Avalon’s 3-acre master planned Kapolei Pacific Center that already includes the regional headquarters of the United States Social Security Administration and the Cole Academy preschool.

DreamHouse Center is anticipated to be completed by the summer of 2024 and will feature upper two floors for DreamHouse High School and the ground floor for retail spaces. This new facility will enable DreamHouse ‘Ewa Beach Public Charter School to realize its growth with 100 students expected to enroll each year over the next 4 years, and will accommodate up to four hundred (400) high school students

“DreamHouse is the newest and fastest-growing charter school in Hawai‘i,” said Alex Teece, founder and Chief Education Officer for DreamHouse ‘Ewa Beach. “Our commitment to empowering homegrown leaders for our islands would not be possible without the shared vision and partnership of Avalon to create and bring DreamHouse Center to life.”

Currently located in Kalaeloa, ‘Oahu and expanding to Kapolei, DreamHouse was imagined in 2012 and after nearly seven years of development the school was approved in July 2017 and launched in August 2019. The school promotes active, collaborative, inquiry-based learning through a culturally responsive pedagogy and a culture of high expectations.

"Our partnership with Avalon began because of their past achievements in developing schools. Given our growth plan and need for space, we see this partnership as central to serving our children, families, and community,” Teece said. “DreamHouse is our fourth school development. Our motivation has always been to fill the gaps, to provide what the community needs. This new high school of “great expectations” is exactly the right project for us to support at this time,” said Christine Camp, CEO of Avalon.

DreamHouse Center’s ground floor retail spaces will offer eateries, shops, and various other services that are complimentary to DreamHouse High School while expanding services to the community. “We see DreamHouse High School as the next logical step in the evolution of our property in Kapolei. We started with the Cole Academy in 2010 and then added the Social Security Administration in 2013. Today, we are pleased to add DreamHouse High School and supportive retail spaces,” said Steven Kothenbeutel, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer of Avalon.
