KAPOLEI, HI (August 4, 2022) — Ka Makana Ali‘i is pleased to welcome Aunty’s Hotpot House to the Center for West O‘ahu. The 1,965-square-foot restaurant is located outside the Food Market next to Koa Pancake House and opened on Thursday, July 21.

Owner Yani Higuchi partnered with a popular restaurateur with 12 years of experience in Taiwanese hotpot restaurants. The hotpot experience starts with the guest’s choice of broth (beef, chicken, seafood, or vegetable base soup) and a choice of protein (wagyu beef, beef brisket, ribeye, beef tongue, pork belly, or pork shoulder). Guests can then select other ingredients from the glass refrigerators along with the sauces and garnishes of their choice to bring back to their individual hot pots.

“Ka Makana Ali‘i is thrilled to welcome Aunty’s Hotpot House to the Center for West O‘ahu,” said Stephanie England, general manager of the shopping center. “We are confident that our community will enjoy this new restaurant and grateful that the tenant chose to join our Ka Makana Ali‘i ‘ohana. It is unlike any other dining experience at the Center!”

From the various broths to sauces and even garlic powder, Chef Chang makes everything from scratch. He brings an array of mouth-watering pupu specials to the menu, including giant fried pork chop, deep fried whole fish, salt & pepper shrimp, pork belly bao, garlic chicken, li hing sweet potato fries and more.

“We are incredibly honored to partner with Aunty, who is returning to the dining scene after three years,” owner Yani Higuchi said. “There is an incredible amount of work that goes into creating everything from scratch and both she and Chef Chang have done an amazing job in getting this restaurant ready to open! When Aunty wanted to open in Kapolei, we had the perfect place for her. We are so excited to introduce West O‘ahu to Aunty’s Hotpot House!”

Aunty’s Hotpot House serves four draft beers, Korean soju, mini Iichiko bottles, Kavalan Taiwanese whiskey, assorted spirits, soft drinks and a signature real fruit iced tea. After each meal, customers who post about and tag @auntyshotpothouse on Instagram will receive a free shave ice. Artist Erin Ibarra created a unique mural for the space that makes an Instagram-worthy backdrop for the whole restaurant. The restaurant also offers cook-at-home takeout kits for purchase.

Aunty’s Hotpot House is open for lunch and dinner on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12 to 9 p.m., on Friday and Saturday from 12 to 10 p.m., and on Sunday from 12 to 8 p.m. Aunty’s Hotpot House will be closed every Tuesday. The restaurant can be reached at (808) 670-2813.
