The Wai’anae Coast is Hiring event Provides Career Opportunities Close to Home
WAIANAE (August 7, 2024) – To continue their commitment to providing career opportunities and enhancing community wellness, the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center (WCCHC) in partnership with the Kapolei Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting the 3rd Annual Waianae Coast is Hiring - Hiring Fair & Career Expo for the Waianae Coast community on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm at Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Care’s Main Campus - Great Lawn (86-260 Farrington Highway Waianae, HI 96792).
Attending the first year’s Hiring Fair & Career Expo was life changing for RickiLee Yeboah, who now works minutes from home. “I attended Waianae Hiring Event, and I am so glad I did because it led me to securing employment at the Comp as the residency program manager. I am passionate about giving back as a Wai’anae resident. Working close to home has improved my overall quality of life with my kid’s schools nearby too.” RickiLee shared.
The Hiring Fair & Career Expo will focus on providing opportunities in the areas of HEALTHCARE, PROFESSIONAL TRADES, and WAIANAE COAST BUSINESSES. There will also be information regarding vocational training programs. Attendees will have the chance to explore new career paths, engage in on-spot interviews, and partake in a day filled with light refreshments, raffles, and prizes. This coordinated effort aims to connect jobseekers with employers, reflecting our dedication to strengthening the community and responding to the unique employment challenges of our region.
Advocating for west side residents to find employment opportunities close to home is not a new concept for the Kapolei Chamber. The Chamber has led and organized efforts in the region for almost a decade to help westside residents find westside career opportunities. “It’s about families being able to take their kids to sports practices, have dinner together and have a better quality of life.”, says Kiran Polk, Executive Director for the Kapolei Chamber of Commerce, “We have residents on the Waianae Coast who can spend upwards of three hours a day in traffic at times.”
Supporting and empowering the community is at the core of WCCHC’s mission. Nicholas Hughey, Executive Vice President, WCCHC, shared, “This Hiring Fair & Career Expo reflects our ongoing mission to empower our community with optimal opportunities in healthcare and beyond. It's an exciting time to explore and grow with us.”
The Hiring Fair & Career Expo is FREE and open to the public.
