Waianae Comp and Kapolei Chamber to Host Job Fair & Career Expo

Featuring Healthcare and the Professional Trades

WAIANAE (August 1, 2022) – In honor of National Health Center Week, the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center (WCCHC) will be hosting the first ever ‘Waianae Coast is Hiring Job Fair and Career Expo’, for the Waianae Coast community next Wednesday. This job fair and career expo is focused on providing new jobs, careers, and career development and training opportunities in the area of healthcare, professional trades, education, and retail.

Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center partnered with the Kapolei Chamber of Commerce (KCC) to present the job fair and expo. The Kapolei Chamber has a long-standing workforce development initiative ‘West O’ahu Works’ (formerly ‘Hire Leeward’) which provides support to west side residents, helping them connect to west side jobs. Working close to home results in less commute time, more time with their families, and a better quality of life.

Many residents of the Waianae Coast are interested in jobs in the professional trades. WCCHC saw the need and decided to expand the job fair beyond healthcare and provide a career expo inviting organizations with specialized training opportunities next week to participate. Attendees will find career opportunities in labor and construction and law enforcement at the Fair and Expo.

The Kapolei Chamber of Commerce connected WCCHC with businesses and training programs in the industries of focus. Some of the organizations who will be at the Fair & Expo are the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement and their Hawaiian Trades Academy, the Hawaii Carpenters Apprenticeship & Training Fund, Makaha Learning Center, Honolulu Police Department, Leeward Community College, and much more.

“We are all facing the challenges of today’s labor shortage. By hosting this job fair and career expo, we hope to connect our Waianae Coast residents with west side career opportunities in healthcare and beyond. This effort contributes to our overall mission to help our community achieve optimal health and wellness.” said Nicholas Hughey, Executive Vice President – Operations, WCCHC. “We felt this is a great way to give back to the community since we are celebrating National Health Center Week.”

The job fair and career expo is one of five activities WCCHC is hosting in honor of National Health Center. National Health Center Week runs from August 7-13, and is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades.

The Waianae Coast is Hiring Job Fair and Career Expo will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at WCCHC’s main campus (86-260 Farrington Highway Waianae, HI 96792).

The job fair and career expo is FREE and open to the public.

Attendees are encouraged to pre-register at wcchc.info/22jobfair.

WCCHC is a healthcare facility that follows Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. All patients, staff, and visitors are required to wear a mask at all times. Masks will be provided if attendees do not have one.
